Clarify your application requirements first

Check directly with the institution which test it accepts and when applications close. These details give your preparation plan a clearer purpose.

Check the format in use on your test date

TOEFL iBT was updated on 21 January 2026. Check current task types on the ETS website instead of relying only on older preparation materials.

Start with a short exercise in all four skills

Read and summarise a short text, listen and take notes, write a short email and answer a question aloud. Record concrete examples of what you find difficult. This is not an official level or score assessment.

Don’t spend all your study time on one skill

Reuse vocabulary from reading and listening in writing and speaking. At the end of each session, make a short note to guide your next step.

Build a realistic schedule

Choose study periods you can maintain alongside everyday life. Preparation time and goals can be discussed in relation to your current level and application date.
