Learning words through common phrases

Some words often occur together. Record a new verb with a noun it naturally accompanies so you learn usage as well as meaning.

A SHORT EXERCISE

Try it yourself first.

Make three personal sentences with “make a decision”, “take a break” and “do homework”. Would randomly changing the verbs sound equally natural?

View the solution or example answer

“I need to make a decision.” and “Let’s take a break.” show words working as a group. These combinations do not always match verb choices in Turkish.

Your next step.

Select useful phrases as well as new words from a reading text. Reuse each in a new personal context.
