Taking short, selective listening notes
Decide what information you need instead of writing everything. Use short marks for people, dates, places or changed decisions. Notes should not stop you following the speech.
Try it yourself first.
For “The session was planned for Friday, but it has moved to Thursday afternoon.” note the old and new times separately.
View the solution or example answer
“Old: Friday; new: Thursday afternoon” makes the change visible. Taking the first time as the answer misses the correction. This is not an official IELTS question.
Your next step.
Listen to a short recording and note only changes. Summarise them in full sentences afterwards to check your abbreviations remain understandable.
