Steps representing progress in exam preparation

Choosing an appropriate response to a spoken question

Follow a question’s communication purpose rather than one keyword. Suggestions, information questions and requests call for different responses.

A SHORT EXERCISE

Try it yourself first.

Compare “Sure, I’ll send them tonight.” and “The room is upstairs.” as answers to “Could you send me the notes?”

View the solution or example answer

The first responds to the requested action. The second gives a location and does not fulfil the request. Shared words alone are not a sufficient test.

Your next step.

Summarise what the other person wants in Turkish or simple English. Use this as general communication practice, not as an official TOEFL sample.

Joining online lessons from Pendik.

Lessons with Songül Nazariani are live, one to one and exclusively online. Share your needs for primary or middle school maths, general English, conversation practice, IELTS or TOEFL preparation. Suitable days, times, lesson duration and fees are discussed together.

Sharing your exam type, approximate level and planned test date helps us plan the starting point.
